Surrogate Mother Treatment

Surrogacy is a method of assisted reproduction. When a couple wants to have a baby but not able to have a child because one or both partners are medically unhealthy to conceive, so another Woman is artificially inseminated with the sperm. So the Woman who will carry the Embryo is known as the Surrogate.

There are two types of Surrogacy arrangements

• Gestational Surrogacy
• Traditional Surrogacy

Gestational Surrogacy
• Gestational Surrogacy, the Surrogate mothers eggs are not used at all, so the child will not be related to the Surrogate biologically
• In this type of Surrogacy, the Embryo is basically created by using both, where the biological father's sperm and the biological mother's eggs are taken through a process called In Vitro Fertilization
• IVF process means the egg and sperm are taken from the biological parents and the fertilized Embryo is transferred to the Uterus for the Surrogate using
• This process will take between 2 to 5 days for the Embryos to develop outside the womb that means laboratory prior to transfer them to the Surrogate
• The Surrogate will carry the Embryo through the Pregnancy term until its birth. So finally this Gestational Surrogacy gives the result of the child Genetically related to the Biological parents

Traditional Surrogacy
• In Traditional Surrogacy, the Surrogate acts as both the Egg Donor and as the actual Surrogate for the Embryo, and she is fertilized using a process known as Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)
• In this IUI procedure, the doctor will transfer sperm that is taken from the Biological Father or other person's sperm and will subsequently transfer that sperm into the Surrogate mother's Uterus so that fertilization may take place naturally
• Therefore, with Traditional Surrogacy, the Surrogate is also the Biological mother of the child. This type of Surrogacy is typically used only if the Biological mother's egg is not eligible to conceive

A Woman can consider a Surrogate for several reasons:

• If any Medical related problems with Uterus and tubes
• If their Uterus has been removed and that is Hysterectomy
• Who had Pregnancy impossible or risk for such as severe Heart disease

• Make sure that the Surrogate mother is healthy and ideally between 21 to 40 years old
• Other than the physical fitness levels such as blood pressure, sugar levels, thyroid, etc, one should check for the mental health level such as any Psychological related problems of the Surrogate
• It is also advisable that the Surrogate should have already carried and delivered at least one healthy baby before
• Typically check the Body Mass Index (BMI) of not higher than 33. Calculate my BMI to the baby
• The Surrogate must have had Pregnancies that were all free of complications and were full-term
• Be in a stable living situation
• If married Surrogate or partnered, the Surrogate must have her partner's support. Also, the Surrogate and her partner/primary support person must agree to participate in a social screening work
• Leads a responsible lifestyle
• Surrogate is willing to travel for IVF process. Please note, often these trips include overnight stays
• Check, if Surrogate mother is not a smoker or abuse alcohol and taking any unwanted drug

• Medical and emotional issues that are related with Surrogacy, this is also many legal thought that must be labeled
• This may involve putting in writing all of the legal requirements that are considered for the Surrogacy arrangement
• Particularly some issues can include the requirements of the Surrogate mother as well as the Biological parents
• This may also need the writing of a financial related contract that outlines how the medical and other related expenses of the Surrogate mother will be reimbursed
• Once all of these issues have been labeled and put in writing, then the process is also completed and the Surrogate mother can be adopted for the process
