UT is defined as the infection in the Female Urinary Tract. This condition is caused by bacterial infection, with each new infection caused by a different strain of bacteria.
Symptoms:
Symptoms of UTIs include
• Frequent or intense urges to urinate
• Pain or burning sensation during urination
• Milky, cloudy or reddish-brown urine
• Fever or Chills
• Pain in the back or side
• Nausea
• Vomiting
Treatment:
• Taking a low dose of an antibiotic
• Frequent urination
• Drink more water which includes cranberry juice
• Advised to take showers instead of baths
• Wear cotton underwear and change your underwear daily
• Urinate before and after sexual activity
• Avoid using a Diaphragm or Spermicides and you should change to an alternate form of birth control
• Wipe from front to back after urinating
• Don't use douches or Feminine hygiene sprays
• Incontinence is the involuntary loss of urine. It occurs during physical activity and stress, such as when you cough, sneeze, laugh, run, or perform other activities that exerts pressure on your bladder
• Then the variety of causes, including advancing age, strains on the Pelvic area during childbirth and radiation treatment for cancer
Treatment:
• Kegel exercises are especially effective for stress incontinence but may also help urge incontinence
• Electrical Stimulation

• Then the multiple diagnostic tests may be performed, including a Cotton swab test, Urodynamic study, Imaging tests (MRI, ultrasound) or Cystoscopy
Treatment:
• Estrogen Replacement Therapy
• Vaginal Pessaries
• Physical therapy to restore strength to the Pelvic floor muscle
• Losing weight may reduce stress on Pelvic muscles
• Surgical treatments are using your own Pelvic tissue, to support for the uterus and return the uterus to its natural position
• Urethral Syndrome is similar to a lower urinary tract infection, but the infection cannot be attributed to Micro organism
• Urethral Syndrome may be caused by allergies, trauma, abnormal anatomical features or surgical scarring
• Symptoms of Urethral Syndrome includes the frequent urge to urinate, pain or burning while urinating. Urine may appear cloudy or dark, or have an unpleasant odor. Women with Urethral Syndrome may also experience lower abdominal discomfort, vaginal discharge or bloating
Treatment:
• Antibiotics
• Hormone Replacement Therapy
• Oral contraceptive Pills may also be used to manage symptoms
• Antispasmodics
• Tricyclic Antidepressants(TCAs)
• Muscle relaxants
• Alpha-blockers
• Interstitial Cystitis is a chronic condition characterized by pain related to the bladder becoming full. It is usually resolved by emptying the bladder
• Pain is usually felt in the bladder, urethra, vagina and pelvis
• The pain can range from a mild or severe pain, burning sensation and also discomfort
• Other symptoms include frequent urination; frequently urinating at night time is called nocturia, and urgency of urine
Treatment:
• Distending the bladder with water under anesthesia
• Cauterization of bladder
• Physical Therapy
• Instillation of medication into the bladder
• Interstim – An implant that uses mild electrical pulses to relieve Pelvic pain and, in some cases, reduce urinary frequency
• Intravesical injection of Botox
• Surgery to increase the size of the bladder using the patient's own tissue, such as a part of the stomach or intestine is called Bladder Augmentation
• A Genito Urinary Fistula is a collective term for Fistulas or holes
• It is an abnormal connection between the urinary system like a Bladder, Ureters or Urethra and the Vagina or Rectum
• Genito Urinary Fistula can be caused by trauma during childbirth, radiation therapy, and a complication of other Pelvic surgery
• Risk factors of Genito Urinary Fistula includes Pelvic inflammatory disease and diabetes
• The main symptom of a Genito Urinary Fistula is constant leakage of urine from the vagina
Treatment:
• Small Fistulas that are found early may be treated by Catheter drainage
• The treatment for most fistulas is surgical repair is to close the opening
• If you have infection associated with the Fistula, your Physician may also prescribe antibiotics or other medications
• Urethral Diverticulum is when a bulge or pouch forms below the urethra. Because it generally connects to the urethra, this pouch repeatedly gets filled with urine while you urinate
• Causing a variety of symptoms including painful urination, dribbling of urine after thinking you are done urinating, painful intercourse, and possibly Urinary Tract Infections
• Sometimes there are no symptoms and we only find it during a routine Pelvic exams or Radiographic procedures
Treatment:
• Long-term low-dose antibiotic therapy
• Surgeries are done by cutting open the neck of the Urethral Diverticulum, opening the sac permanently into the vagina, completely removing the Urethral Diverticulum is the most common option and also called Diverticulectomy
