Clomiphene citrate
Also called as Clomid or Siphene which is given orally with a starting dose of 50 or 100 mg/day for 5 days. If Ovulation fails to occur in low dose, the dosage will be increased to 50 mg more. The side effects of Clomiphene citrate are rare, sometimes it may cause mood changes, hot flushes in face and blurring of vision.

Letrozole
Letrozole is also known as Femara, is given orally for Ovulation Induction. The starting dose is 2.5 or 5.0 mg. If Ovulation does not occur, the dose can be raised to 2.5 mg in a subsequent cycle. Most fertility specialists do not exceed 7.5 mg per day.

Gonadotropins
The Gonadotropin are injectable fertility medications that can be used for Ovulation Induction. Daily injections are given for 5-12 days.
Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG or hCG)
HCG is used to induce Ovulation customarily when there are an adequate number of mature Follicles respectively per treatment regime. The HCG is used in the Assisted Reproductive Technology because it has a longer half life than LH. It can also be used for timed intercourse.

GnRH agonist
The GnRH analogs are used in conjunction with Gonadotropin and allows for better hormonal control of Ovulation Induction and fewer canceled cycles. In Assisted Reproductive Technology IVF cycles, GnRH analogs are often used to enhance egg production and to prevent spontaneous Ovulation.

After Ovulation Induction, nearly 80% of Women who were not ovulating or ovulating irregularly, starts ovulating regularly. However, they need to take proper prescribed doses of these medicines for a considerable period of time. The doses vary according to individual's age, weight and ovarian function. Some Women might need increased doses of these medicines to start ovulating.
